To help the child to settle down in the new surroundings and gain confidence, a series of activities are undertaken. The required material for these is specially prepared to suit the size and needs of the child. These activities called “Exercises of Practical Life”, help the child in becoming independent, and also aid in developing the physical and mental com potencies of the child.

The sensorial material for which the Montessori method is particularly well known scientifically prepared, help the child become aware of the physical properties of matter around us, i,e., dimensions, colors, Textures, sounds, shapes etc and also indirectly prepares the child for reading and writing.

The language materials help the child to improve vocabulary and becomes rich in English language phonetically. All the apparatus are specially prepared in time with child’s needs and are offered to the child for easy and total absorption, during the time period 2.5 to 6 Years referred to as the “Sensitive Period” by Dr. Maria Montessori
